"New Perspectives"

Gaithersburg, Maryland
This is a special juried exhibition open only to Maryland Pastel Society Artist members, in good standing (i.e., dues paid for 2019). Signature members are NOT eligible for this exhibition. The juror of awards is David Lawton, long-time MPS Signature Member and past president of Maryland Pastel Society.
All paintings must be the artist’s own original work, at least 80% soft pastels, and completed within the last two years.

Key Dates:
May 3, 2019 - email deadline for receipt of digital entries and fees paid
May 18, 2019 - notification of acceptans sent to artists via email
July 8, 2019 - Delivery of accepted artworks to the Kentlands Mansion in Gaithersburg, MD.
July 12, 2019 - Exhibition opens
July 25, 2019 - Reception 7-8:30 p.m.
September 8, 2019 - Show closes.
September 9, 2019 - Pick up artwork.
About the Juror & Judge of Awards:
David Lawton has been a pastel artist and oil painter for more than thirty years. He has studied with many nationally known artists in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast and his paintings have won awards in national competitions. In addition, his work has been featured in several art publications. David is both a studio and plein air painter and currently focuses on pastel landscapes and still life. David is a past President of the Maryland Pastel Society and a much sought after painting instructor.
