Donni Dingman, is now a juried member of the Artist's Gallery in Columbia where she recently sold cards and 3 of several of her paintings on display at the Holiday Show.
Donni's painting entitled, "Azalea Gardens" sold at the MPS show at the Slayton House in December.

Muriel Ebitz, won a 1st Place Award for a watercolor painting at the Rockville Art League Exhibit at the Glenview Mansion. She was chosen to participate in a six-person show at the Ranter Museum, March 1 through March 31, 2009. Opening reception is Sunday, March 1, 1:30 to 3:30.

Lieta Gerson, received a 1st place award for an acrylic painting and an Honorable Mention for a collage painting at the Rockville Art League Exhibit at the Glenview Mansion. She received an Honorable Mention for a pastel painting at the Olney Art Association Exhibit. Lieta, was chosen to participate in a six-person show at the Ratner Museum, March 1 through March 31, 2009. Opening Reception, Sunday, March 1, 1:30-3:30.

Evening Light by Lynn Goldstein

Lynn Goldstein's, pastel painting " Evening Light" was accepted in the Chicago Pastel Painters Second Biennial National Juried Exhibition, "Pastels Chicago." The judge for this show was Doug Dawson. The show will take place February 5 until March 29, 2009.

Elaine Hochreiter, has an exhibition of 26 original oil paintings at Slayton House
Gallery, Wilde Lake Village, 10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia, MD from February 12 to March 14, 2009. Please join her for the opening reception on Sunday, February 15 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
Elaine's painting "Stepping Stones" was selected for the Masters
Division, comprised of only 10% of the entries in the 56th Central Adirondack
Art Show in Old Forge, NY. In addition, it was awarded second place in the oil
painting category

Carol Iglesias, currently has eight paintings in a two person show at, The National Institutes of Health, Building 10, West Gallery, Bethesda, MD. from Jan. 2 through Feb. 27, 2009. Carol, has a studio/gallery in Building 4 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA.

Betsy Kellum, was recently juried in as a Signature Member of the Maryland Pastel Society. In 2008 she received the Open Box M award at the Pastel Society of the West Coast Intl. Exhibition, and the Mid-America Pastel Society award at the Pastel Society of America Exhibition. Additionally she was accepted into the Connecticut Pastel Society Exhibition in Hartford.

Art Landerman, was featured in an article about local canine artists in the most recent Winter edition of the Baltimore Dog Magazine.

Deborah Maklowski, had all three of her submitted paintings juried into the 2009 Richeson 75 Pastels Competition; one was selected for the exhibition in Kimberly, Wisconsin, and the other two were selected for inclusion in the Exhibition Book. Another pastel was juried into the Patuxent Art League's 18th Annual Open Juried Exhibition running through January 4, 2009, at the Montpelier Mansion in Laurel, MD.
Deborah, also had three colored pencil works in the 2009 Members' Show of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Colored Pencil Society of America; that show ran through January 2, 2009, at the Friendship Heights Community Center in Chevy Chase, MD.

Lisa Mitchell's, portrait painting entitled, "DJ", received an Honorable Mention Award in the IAPS, (International Association of Pastel Societies), 12TH Juried Exhibition, 2008 Web Show. Eight award winners were selected from fifty accepted paintings.

Lisa Mitchell, Joyce Lister, Betsy Goldsborough and Linda Light along with six other local artists will have hundreds of paintings on display at the Art House 2009 Show and Sale for just one day only! Oil, pastel and watercolor paintings are available for sale within every room of this beautiful "million dollar" home at 1128 Hunt Creek Lane in Sparks, MD on January 17, from 10 am to 7 pm. This community is right off of York Road a few miles north of Hunt Valley. Beverages and snacks served all day. The artists will be on site.

Waxflowers and Mum by JoEllen Murphy

JoEllen Murphy, will have pastel paintings for sale at the Washington Studio School Open House on January 4th from 1-3pm. She has studio space on the 4th floor of the school located at 2129 S Street, NW, Washington DC. Washington Studio School
JoEllen will also be a guest artist at the Waverly Street Gallery in Bethesda. The show runs from February 10-March 7, 2009. The reception is Feb. 13, 6pm-9pm.

Regina Price, received an Honorable Mention award at the Rockville Art league Exhibition at the Glenview Mansion.

Bob Russin, had his painting entitled, "Forsythia Paint" selected for the exhibition at the Butler Institute of American Art, Giffuni Gallery in Youngstown, Ohio.  The show runs from December 21, 2008 through January 25, 2009.
His painting entitled, "Coneflower Shower" was selected to be in the Richeson Pastel Exhibition 75 catalog. This painting will be on display at the Richeson Gallery in Kimberly, WI.
Bob's painting entitled, "Spiked" was selected into the Chicago Pastel Painter's Second Biennial National Juried Exhibition. The show runs from February 5 through March 27, 2009.

Stan Sperlak, has published a book of his works in pastel from the last decade, "The View From My Easel" an 80 page book with over 120 color images.

Stan is also announcing his new "pastels indoors" classes this winter. While known for his plein air workshops, Stan is conducting special 2 and 3-day classes at his studio where a wide variety of techniques will be presented that will take students beyond sketches to finished works.  Figure, still life, studio landscape and nonobjective genre will all be touched on. (Jan 26/27 Feb 2/3)   All levels welcome.
A special Master Class will be held on Feb 4/5/6 for those who have a yearning to be pushed very hard and turn new corners. This class will require either previous study with Stan or a resume of your experience and several images emailed as this class will be more rigorous. Register at Stan's web site.

Renata Vaccari, received a 2nd Place Award for her pastel painting at the Rockville Art League Exhibit at the Glenview Mansion. She also was awarded an Honorable Mention at the Olney Art Association Exhibition.

Daniel Wise, was selected for membership to the Washington Society of Landscape Painters at its December meeting. Founded in 1913, the society is one of the oldest active arts organizations in the U.S. and limits its membership to 40 artists who specialize in landscape painting.

Dolores Allnock's, pastel painting entitiled, "Taos Mountainside" won an Honorable Mention in the juried show "Harmony within the Natural World" held in November at the Blanche Ames Gallery, Frederick, MD.

Dolores, was also juried into the Miniature Art 08 show of the Council for the Arts, Chambersburg, PA and won an Honorable Mention for her acrylic abstract "Reflections".

Sandy Askey-Adam's, pastel titled "Blue Skies of Pennsylvania" was selected for the 2008 National "Paint America Second Top 100".
