Al Zerries
Dear Members,
It is with great sadness that I learned today of the death of Al Zerries, a wonderful pastel artist from Long Island and a member of our society. Many of you know Al's work from our recent Shades of Pastel Show where he won the award for best portrait for his work "The Eternal Red Head." I had a wonderful conversation with him when I called to tell him about the award and I had hoped that we might bring him down sometime for a demo.
His death was accidental, perhaps from a hit and run. He was found by the side of the road unconscious after walking his dog. This is particularly tragic. The Society is sending flowers and our condolences to his wife. Al was 69.
There is a lovely video tribute to Al on the Pastel Journal blog:www.//pastelblog.artistsnetwork.com/
I know you will join our board in mourning Al's death and will keep his wife in your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Jean
