Teresa Ficaretta's pastel painting "Vernazza at Night" was selected for exhibit in the annual Friends of the Yellow Barn Show, a juried show at the Yellow Barn Studio in Bethesda, Maryland.

Jean Hirons' In October, Jean was named a signature member of the Pastel Painters' Society of Cape Cod.  

Teresa Hommell is the featured artist at HoneysuckleHome in Arnold/Annapolis for the month of February. She will have 21 paintings on exhibit.

Carol Iglesias, has a show at Woodberry Forest School in Woodberry Forest, VA. The show; Impressions: Europe and the Caribbean is in the Baker Gallery in the Walker Fine Arts Center. It will be there from Jan. 6-Feb. 28, 2010. The opening reception is Friday, Jan. 8, 5:30-7:30.  Gallery hours are 9-5, daily. 540-672-3900

Betsy Kellum, was accepted into the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club show at the National Arts Club, Gramercy Park, NY, and in the American Artists Professional League show at the Salmagundi Club, NY where she was awarded the Gamblin Artists Colors award.  Betsy juried and judged the Pastel Society of New Jersey's annual members show in Nov.  Currently, she has a piece accepted in the Art League Gallery, Old Town Alexandria.

Joyce Lister, had two of her paintings accepted into the "Au Natural, Nudes 2010 Exhibition" at the Atreasian Gallery, 111 West 36 Street, Baltimore, MD. Feb 3, 2010 - Feb 26, 2010, reception: Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, from 6 - 9 pm.

Joyce will be participating in a show of pastel paintings, (nude studies and landscapes) along with Betsy Goldsborough and Harriett Weinstock at Station North Arts Cafe Gallery, 1816 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD. The show opens March 1, 2010 and runs through March 31, 2010. The artist's reception is scheduled for, Monday, March 1, from 5-7 pm.

Joyce will also have an exhibition of her pastel works with artist, Lisa Mitchell at Wells Real Estate - lobby gallery, 100 West Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD. April 1, through April 30, 2010.

Deborah Maklowski, has had three paintings accepted into the Richeson 75 Pastels exhibition, which opens in January in Kimberly, Wisconsin (but she can afford to send only two!), while four of her colored pencil pieces will be included in the upcoming Maryland Art League show at the Sandy Spring Museum. You're welcome to come to the opening reception from 2pm to 4 pm, on Sunday, January 10, at the Museum, 97901 Bentley Road in Sandy Spring.

Lenore Most, is opening a new kind of gallery in Bethesda called Lenore's Place. The showroom is featuring framed paintings and Williamsburg style American toleware. The address is 7720 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD. Hours are Tues.-Sat. 10-3. Or call 301-461-9641 for appt. It is two blocks from the metro red line Bethesda station. There is also 2 hours of free parking in the rear of the building.

Lisa Mitchell, will be participating in a group show with the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, (MAPAPA) at Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters Park Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21403, 410-222-1777. The show will open January 7 and run through February, 14, 2010. The artist reception will take place on January 10, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. www.friendsofquietwaterspark.org

Lisa M. Orton, won first place at the Patuxent Art League open juried exhibition at the Montpelier Arts Center in December for her pastel painting "Namibian Medicine Man." In August 2008, she and her 80-year-old mother went on a (camera) safari to Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. It was there that they met the medicine man or "traditional doctor" at a village homestead in Namibia.

Jack Pardue, is featured in an article on pastelists in the February 2010 issue of American Artist Magazine. He was also in a group show with the Washington Society of Landscape Painters that ended on Jan. 2nd. The show was called "Near and Far Paintings by the Washington Society of Landscape Painters" at Strathmore Mansion, 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, MD 20852. Jack is also in a group show of small paintings with the Washington Society of Landscape Painters at the American Painting Gallery in Washington, DC.  

Kay Sandler, won an award at the Philadelphia Water Color Society's 109th Anniversary International Exhibition of Works on Paper.  The show ran from October 3 - December 18th. Watercolor Artist Magazine featured Kay's work in their February 2010 issue in the article "The Year's Best Paintings" which showcased works which won best of show in national watermedia societies in 2009.  

Dave Thomas, will have a one person show at the Fairfax Coffee House in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, for the months of January and February 2010. The reception is slated for the evening of January 15.  All are welcome.  Contact the coffee house for more details.  www.mtn-laurel.com/fairfax.htm

Joyce Turk, was recently was juried into the Foundry Gallery which is a cooperative artist showplace at Dupont Circle, Washington, D.C.  

Renata D. Vaccari, was awarded a "juror's award" at the  annual Juried Art Show of the Olney Art Association on November 8th.

Mary Anne Warner, is exhibiting her work at Northern Virginia Community College, Tyler Gallery, 3001 North Beauregard St. Alexandria, Va. 22311 from Jan. 13 - Feb. 5, 2010. Opening January 21st 7-9PM

Rhoda Zeligman, was presented with the Selma Gross Art Achievement Award at The Edward A. Myerberg Center. This award is presented yearly to an outstanding teacher or to a student who has made great progress. Rhoda would like to thank her teacher Joyce Lister for this accomplishment. In addition to being a wonderful artist, teacher and friend, Joyce has had a major influence on her artwork.
