Carol in Michelangelo Piazza

I was born in Montreal, Canada, and grew up in the Pacific Northwest. After graduating from Olympic College, in Washington State, I continued my art schooling by attending an Art School in Seattle called The New School of Visual Concepts.  Throughout my life I have had the opportunity to live in many states. My work was selected for a statewide Iowa Arts Council Traveling Show. I became involved with Commercial Art and Design and had a successful career for twenty years as a Graphic Designer and Art Director. I was co-founder of a design company in Asheville, North Carolina and won numerous awards both nationally and internationally for my designs. My work has been published in several books, "American Corporate Identity", "The Best In Medical Advertising & Graphics", "International Brand Packaging Awards Annual" and most recently in "Best Of America Pastel Artists, Volume II" and "Elan Magazine".

During my professional and commercial career, I continued to work with watercolors and oils, but now I enjoy working primarily with pastels, because of their brilliant color and thick texture.

I have been fortunate to do an extensive amount of traveling, which has been very inspiring and has become a strong influence on my subject matter. This has enabled me to combine two passions, painting and travel! I often describe my work as "impressionist style pastels in vibrant colors". I have really enjoyed painting Plein Air in Provence, France, and in Tuscany, Italy, as well as various locations around the U.S. Just recently, I have returned from painting in the 5th Annual Plein Air Painters' U.S. Open on Whidbey Island, in Washington.
