ELECTIONS, FALL 2011

DON’T FORGET:   2011 IS AN MPS ELECTION YEAR!

At our fall meeting on October 15, all MPS members in good standing (meaning you’ve paid your 2011 dues) will have the opportunity to elect the MPS Executive Board members who will serve for the next two years. There are four positions to be filled: Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary. (Under our by-laws, the currently serving Vice President becomes the President, so the election does not include the President’s position. Our current Vice President is Daniel Wise, who will accede as MPS President in October 2011.)

The slate, as it currently stands, is as follows:

For Vice President:   No candidate declared
For Treasurer:   Mary Anne Warner
For Recording Secretary:   No candidate declared
For Corresponding Secretary:   JoEllen Murphy (currently serving in this position)

Any Signature Member is eligible and welcome to run for any of these positions, and as you can see, we are seriously in need of a new Vice President and a new Recording Secretary! The MPS simply cannot continue to succeed without its members stepping up: we need your help to keep this a vibrant, active, and learning-focused organization. The work-load truly is not great: in fact, some of our Board members are not only working artists but also employed in full-time jobs and can still manage to volunteer for the MPS. Please consider volunteering!

If you would like to have your name added to the ballot for any one of these positions – especially for either of our two vacant ones! – please send your artist’s bio/resume and a short statement (half a page or less) describing 1) why you’re interested in and 2) how you’re qualified for the position to:
Daniel Wise
