April 16, 2010 - Notification of decline or acceptance of submissions sent via email
April 24, 2010 - The winning paintings will be announced at the Spring Members' Meeting, and the web show of all accepted paintings will be available for viewing on the Maryland Pastel Society's web site.
September 30, 2010 - Web show will be archived on the web site

Juror of Awards

Cindy Packard Richmond, will be the juror for the Web Show. Cindy is a resident artist at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Va. Cindy has won many awards for her outstanding pastel paintings. She is a published novelist and food writer. She had an article entitled, Designing a Visual Feast, published in the August/September 2006 International Artist Magazine. Awards
The juror will select 50 works to be represented on the Maryland Pastel Society web site. From the 50 works chosen, 6 paintings will be awarded the following prizes:

Best in Show: $200
1st Place: $150
2nd Place: $100
3rd Place: $75
Two Merit Awards: $50 each

In addition to the cash awards listed above, each winning artist will be given the opportunity to exhibit 10 paintings (15 for Best in Show) on the Maryland Pastel Society's site, along with his or her artist's statement.

Eligibility  
Open to all Artist and Signature members of the Maryland Pastel Society. All manner of subject and style may be submitted, but all paintings must be the artist's own original work and at least 80% soft pastels. No copies of work by other artists or of published materials. No artwork created in a classroom under the guidance of an instructor. All accepted work must have been completed within the last two years.

Entry Fee
Maryland Pastel Society members in good standing may submit up to 3 images for an entry fee of $10. Entry fees are nonrefundable. Make check payable to the Maryland Pastel Society.

Procedures for Entry
Entry is by digital image only. All digital images must be appropriately cropped so that only the artwork is visible. The image must be submitted in .jpg format; all digital files should be sized to 72 dpi (appropriate for web viewing); and the longest dimension should measure 1800 pixels. Each digital file must be named in the following format:

Artist'sLastNameInitials_1Title.jpg

The number placed before the title must correspond to that work's number on the entry form.

Submission by Email
Digital images conforming to these standards must be submitted as an email attachment and sent to pastello.lm@gmail.com. Artists submitting work must also send the completed and signed entry form and a check in the amount of $10.00 to Lisa Mitchell, 1415 Sparks Road, Sparks, MD. 21152. Make check payable to the Maryland Pastel Society.

No files received by email will be forwarded to the juror unless the corresponding entry form and entry fee are received by mail on or before April 3, 2010.

Entry forms must be legible, with both sections completed. Information included on the entry form will be considered final and not subject to change.

Liability
Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Submission of a signed entry form and an entry fee shall constitute the artist's agreement with ALL conditions set forth in this prospectus.
